The construction sector is increasingly embracing prefabrication as an efficient building method. A crucial aspect of this approach is the connection between prefab elements. GB offers numerous connection solutions. “Of course, we provide standard connectors, but we also collaborate with prefab builders to develop innovative anchoring systems,” says Arjan van Termeij, Technical & Development Project Manager at GB.

With the growing interest in prefab construction, the demand for high-quality connectors is increasing. “Prefab elements are of high quality due to their production process, which makes the connections between the elements on-site particularly crucial. Strong, efficient anchoring solutions are essential,” says Arjan. GB offers a wide range of anchoring systems for wooden and concrete prefab elements. One example is the innovative Upper lintel anchor specifically designed for lightweight timber-frame façade elements. This anchor provides an efficient solution for the lintel connection between the façade element and the structural floor. Improvising with angle brackets, strips, or rebar ends is no longer necessary. The system works by drilling holes into the 70 mm thick shell of a hollow-core slab. After placing the hollow-core slab and the timber-frame element, the anchor is inserted into the lintel recess. The floor can then be cast in place.

Additionally, solutions are available for the connection between the bottom of the façade element and the structural floor. These solutions simplify the placement of timber-frame elements while ensuring the final quality. One example is the Floor HSB Strip, designed and developed by GB and subsequently tested by a structural engineer for strength and calculation values. View the Floor HSB Strip Technical Sheet here.

Custom Solutions

GB also offers customized solutions, such as for Spaansen's ‘Façade-ready’ concept. This is a ready-to-use prefab concrete façade, including embedded components, window frames, insulation, and brick strips. For this concept, we developed special anchors for window frame installation and an EPS spiral plug for insulation attachment.

Another excellent example is the development of a fastening system for the Isoniq Roof Stand. This prefab EPS element with wooden reinforcement strips creates an ideal roof upstand, preventing thermal bridges through a seamless connection between roof and façade insulation.

“We are eager to contribute to system solutions,” concludes Arjan. “From an extensive standard range to custom solutions for specific prefab projects, we always provide the perfect fit.”
