GB mainly uses DX51Z 275 steel strip for wood joints and corner anchors up to 2.5 mm in thickness. This steel grade is excellent for cold forming. Structural steel with a high yield strength, such as S235, S315MC, or HX340 LAD, is used for element anchors and frame set corners where steel strip products must withstand greater forces. The letter 'S' in the type designation is an abbreviation for 'structural,' and the numbers behind it represent the yield strength. When the yield strength is exceeded, the steel undergoes plastic deformation. This means that the steel has been stretched to the point where it will not return to its original shape once the load is removed.

For garden hardware, GB mainly uses pickled strip material, such as S235, in thicknesses ranging between 2- and 6-mm. Heavier corners are made of S315MC material in thicknesses ranging from 6 to 10 mm. We have these products electrolytically or hot-dip galvanised at an external galvanisation plant after they have been produced.

In addition to steel quality, preservation is important. The best type of preservation depends on the environment in which the product is processed and the application. Any standards play a role as well.
